Bio
Nicola lives in Rochdale, England with her husband and four children. She is the author of multi-genre romance, including the Amazon international bestseller, Broken. When she is not busy playing with her imaginary friends (or talking about them with real life friends) she can usually be found carrying out her ordinary mum/housewife/all-round-slave duties, bingeing on boxsets, drinking too much Pepsi Max, or fussing over her menagerie of pets. Oh, and if the kids ever ask, she moonlights as the Pink Power Ranger while they're sleeping...
My work
I love what I do and feel like the luckiest person in the world that my job is basically the grown up version of creating feature-length dramas with my Barbie dolls back when I was a kid. There are pieces of me in every single story I've ever written. Bits of my life plucked straight from my memory, feelings taken right from my heart. I'm not going to tell you which parts, of course. Where's the fun in that? The rest comes from a vivid imagination I've had for as long as I can remember, fuelled by inspiration that surrounds me every day. A line in a movie can conjure a whole novel in my head, the melody of a song playing on the radio can create a scene from nowhere, leaving me scrambling round for a pen or my phone so I can jot it down before I forget. A stranger's smile in the cereal aisle, a fine-looking tree, a random meme. Inspiration is everywhere and my mind soaks it in like a sponge.
If you've read more than one of my books, you may have noticed they don't all follow the same rules. I'm a genre crossing, trope hopping, tense flipping, fly by the seat of my pants sorta gal. I like to read everything. I want to write everything...eventually! The only guarantee I can give you is that, somewhere along the way, there will be love. Beautiful, painful, healing love. That's what we're here for, right?
